TELECOM

If you are constructing a new house or a new building and you are needing telecom service, please note that your telecom service will connect to your new house or building in the same construction method as your electric service. In other words, if you have an overhead electric service, your telecom service will be overhead. If you have underground electric service, then your telecom service will be underground.

For underground telecom services, you have two installation options:

  • Install a 1” conduit for the entire length of telecom service. This telecom conduit can be installed when you install the conduit for your electric service. Please refer to the Electric Service Requirements for more details on construction.

  • Telecom services can also be direct buried or trenched in the ground.  With this method of construction, 1” conduits would still be required under driveways, sidewalks, etc. Otherwise, an additional Aid-To-Construction (ATC) cost may be required for boring telecom services under the driveways and sidewalks.

All conduits would be installed by the customer. Any ATC due would be estimated and would need to be paid prior to construction being completed. If you have any questions regarding Telecom, feel free to call FPU's Engineering Department at 931-433-1522 ext. 340.
