Spam/Hotmail problems 2010-05-06

Tuesday morning between midnight and 7 am CDT one of our customer's email account was used to send thousands of spam emails, mostly of the 'We are in Nigeria, have 30 million dollars, and would like your help tranferring it out of the country' variety.
As soon as FPU IT staff became aware of the situation, the flow was cut off, however the net filters that grade our email 'reputation' were already heavily hit. At this time mail is flowing normally to most destinations, but Hotmail/live.com mail is refusing to accept mail from us and generating bounces when we send.
I have taken the appropriate steps to contact them and clear this up, but have yet to have a response. We are doing everything in our power to allow mail to flow again to hotmail customers but it's really out of our hands at the moment.

A note: The customer involved said he had a virus on his computer some months back, that hijacked web pages, etc. It also apparantly captured his login information. If you have a virus on your computer we highly recommend, after getting the virus removed, that you call us and have us change your login information for your email. Not only was this spammer able to send a massive amount of email, he also was able to read any email of this customer, which could possibly expose bank, insurance, or credit card information.
